Inbound-Only Call Center Specialist; A Kinder and Gentler Experience

You’ll never cold call in this position, in fact, we don’t dial out or sell anything at all! You and your teammates will answer the phone and help when business owners have questions about paying their business license fees. You’ll work in small teams, either in our office or from home (an option once you’re trained and experienced). These business owners have gotten a letter and know they must renew their annual license. You’re helping them get the payment right, and helping the city pay for firefighters, libraries, paramedics, roads and more—essential services for their residents. We only work during business hours; yes, Monday through Friday, 8-5, weekend OT is extremely rare.

Here is how the job works.  We are hired by cities to handle their business license fees.  Many just pay, but some have questions, and they call or e-mail us.  You are on a team who gets those calls.  You answer, and they tell you what city they are in, and ask their question.  You pull out the answer sheet for that city and answer their questions. If you need help, there are lots of teammates you can turn to for guidance.

Our company is over 35 years old and this work has been growing fast for the past seven years.  We’re hiring over a dozen people in this position right now.  This is a year-round job, with the potential for promotion and growth, if you are looking for a career.  We are growing extra fast now because of the bad economy—many cities are having a budget crisis and are laying city workers off.  We can do this work for them at less cost, do a better job for them, and collect more money so they can keep providing important city services.

You’ll work for one division of our company, based in Fresno, CA with about 50 employees.  We are part of a midsized company, HdL Companies that serves local governments in a number of areas.  We’re known as a leader, and we work with over 500 cities and counties in six states.
