Tired of Retail? Get An Office Job: Customer Service Center Specialist
If you’ve worked retail, are good at helping people but are tired of being face-to-face all the time, try this job. You’re in an office environment, helping people when they call in on the phone or via e-mail. Callers are businesspeople with questions about paying their city’s business license fees. We train you what to say and how to help. Work 40 hours, Monday through Friday, 8-5, weekend OT is extremely rare. No anxiety of staring into the eyeballs of an angry shopper, wondering what to do next. No standing up all day or restocking shelves.
Once you’ve been trained in our Fresno, CA offices and know the job well, many of our specialists work from home. The choice will be yours: cool A/C and free coffee at the office, or work from home. And the work you’re doing is very meaningful, not just serving up another mocha latte or selling someone another pair of shoes. You’ll help cities all across America collect the business license fees from companies in their jurisdiction so they can pay for firefighters, libraries, paramedics, roads and more.
Here is how the job works. We are hired by cities to handle their business license fees. We send out letters to businesses when it’s renewal time. Many just pay, but some have questions, and they call or e-mail us. You are on a team who gets those calls. You answer, and they tell you what city they are in, and ask their question. You pull out the answer sheet for that city and answer their questions. If you need help, there are lots of teammates you can turn to for guidance.
Our company is over 35 years old and this work has been growing fast for the past seven years. We’re hiring over a dozen people in this position right now. This is a year-round job, with the potential for promotion and growth, if you are looking for a career. We are growing extra fast now because of the bad economy—many cities are having a budget crisis and are laying city workers off. We can do this work for them at less cost, do a better job for them, and collect more money so they can keep providing important city services.
